I'm Mad about the Plaid

This is just a quick outfit post to show you all how the dress my mum made for my birthday looks on! I just love it. I really wanted to wear it with a long sleeve black or yellow turtle neck but, alas, none are to be found as all the shops are bringing out summer stock! I shall have to search some op-shops until I find one. Luckily, I did have a short-sleeved number I could wear with it, though. This photo was taken in haste (as most of my outfit shots are) as I didn't want to be late for class!

Glasses: Rock 'n' Roll Rendezvous stall
Top: Deborah K
Dress: made by my wonderful mother
Shoes: Big W

Also, for anyone interested in my dancing endeavours, I have now attended three whole swing dance classes! I'm glad to say that, for the present, we have left the Charleston behind - it was fun but a little bit too much for poor old me to handle! Last night we started an introduction to East Coast Swing which was so much fun and a lot easier to handle. (I should mention my dancing experience is very limited so I'm proud that I've not fallen over or stepped on any of the leads.) The Swing Sesh has all of these other wonderful classes coming up but the friend I go with can't make it to any and I'm not quite brave enough, yet, to go alone. Never mind! One step at a time is the way to go.

  1. The dress looks beautiful!
Swing dancing lessons must be so much fun! I would love to do that! x

  2. Dusky: Thanks! =D Oh, you should definitely go to some, if you can. I've been having so much fun!

  3. Your mum is a genius!

I must find out what east coast swing is! I keep hearing people talk about it, but I have no idea which one that is. I think they must have different names in the uk!

  4. Aw, thank-you! I shall pass on the compliments. =D Well, this is what wiki has to say! I've really no idea - I just went by what the instructors said. Hehe.

  5. You look so pretty! I'm just wild for plaid right now... must find myself a plaid dress soon! :D

I finally found a swing class nearby after reading your first post on your dancing experiences. I'm so excited to try it out one weekend--I can finally learn how to dance! lol.

  6. Casey: Aw, thank-you! =D Plaid is certainly great.
Oh, that's awesome! I'm excited for you. =D

  7. Oooh, that is such a sweet outfit! I love it! I keep finding plaid fabrics I love, but I have NO experience with matching plaids and keep shying away from them...

I'm glad you're enjoying dance class! It's funny; they often start off with Charleston because it comes before Swing, but I definitely think it takes more coordination than Swing! Good on you for sticking through it!

  8. Seriously fantastic frock, I'm mad for plaid, too! Your so, so, so lucky to have such a talented seamstress of a mom!

Big hugs & oodles of happy Wednesday wishes,
    ♥ Jessica

  9. Swing dancing sounds so fun! My mom and grandma made my senior prom dress, but that's the last thing they've made for me. I wonder if my mom would be responsive to the "gift" of a pattern and some fabric :-).

  10. Nancy: Thanks =D I love plaids!! I'm glad I have a mum who can do all of that matching for me. Hehe.
Jessica: Thanks, doll. I really am lucky!
Catherine: It is fun. =D Haha, you can always try!

  11. the dress is just gorgeous :) your mum has serious skills!!

  12. I just LOOOVe plaid too, any kind, but red is one of my faves. You look cutie pie here.

  13. Marie: Red is definitely my favourite, too. =D Aw, thank-you!

I read and greatly appreciate each and every comment. Thank-you! x
