Outfit Post

A rather bland outfit post, I should add, if only because I've been feeling a bit washed out and bland, myself, lately. I wasn't going to bother but I like to try to blog every few days, at least, and I've been in a bit of a funk lately and couldn't think of anything else to do. I just haven't been feeling very inspired, in general, lately (let alone sartorially) - maybe everyone could let me know what's inspiring them (even if it's not to do with fashion) lately! I'd love to see what everyone is currently into.

Outfit details: 1960s/70s polyester cardigan - Goodwill; belt - gift; pencil skirt - Harris Scarfe; shoes - Big W.

I never did think of another title for my outfit posts! Oh well. I shall think on it and take a look back at the suggestions that were left.

Also, I'm on the look-out for a vintage or vintage repro coat but I want a tailored/fitted one similar to the one I love so much from my post on Sam Stewart, so if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful!

Andi B. Goode

  1. I know what you mean... I'm bored with my entire wardrobe and I'm not sure what I want to make! Very frustrating.

Would this coat be an option?

  2. staring has a beautiful one if you want to invest.

  3. After reading your post I want to ask you what's been going on with you lately, but maybe this is not the place for that discussion. Anyway I'm wishing you well, as I'm sure all your followers are.

This outfit is definitely not "bland". Maybe muted compared to your usual, but still very cute. I've come to look at your style differently now since you show so much of your inspiration. I can see where all the ideas for the details come from, and it makes it more fun.

  4. I don't think your outfit is bland at all, in fact I love it!

  5. You're never bland Andi! Gorgeous as always x

  6. But that's a lovely outfit! An outfit doesn't have to be the most colourful and brightest sparkling star in the room to still be beautiful.

As for inspiration, I've been on the downs for a few weeks, but now my fingers are itching again. Mostly it's about details and smaller things, like these bloomers I want to make: I also want to learn to sew different kind of pockets and buttonholes.

Unfortunatley I doubt my greatest inspiration will do you much good: sunlight! Two months ago we had about three hours of sunlight, and that light was so dim that it didn't feel like it ever really became day-time. Now the sun is coming up at 7 in the morning and sets at around 5 in the afternoon. The days that are sunny, are really sunny. The light is crystal-clear, so white and a little fragile in all its sharpness, and it gets even stronger when reflected by the snow (which we have a lot of).
The idea of spring, warmth, bulbs, colours returned to nature, it seems so much more plausible now than it did in January. We still had -27 C/-16 F yesterday (thank goodness it's only -15 C today =) ), but it doesn't really matter becuase the sun is back.

The idea that summer will come, when it never really gets fully dark and one can ride a bike without a jacket (ok that last part - not so many weeks, but still) is inspiration enough to get creative for summer clothes.

Ok, rambling and being very vague here. It's tricky to try to explain how great the impact of the sun is. Or the lack of sun at this time of the year! Seriously, up here we have two kinds of depression: the usual kind and something called winter-depression or season-depression, and the latter hits almost everybody (to a different degree).

I've never been to Australia, how close to the polar circle are you? Does the sun disappear in the winter or is it an alien idea?

So, that's my greatest source of inspiration, for the moment! Not very great help in late summer-Australia I suppose? =)

  7. I've been trying to work my wardrobe around tights more, because hosiery is so cheap around here and there are so many different styles and colors. I've been in a bit of a funk, too, so I'm also trying to work more colors into my wardrobe. I find it actually helps my mood a bit.
I think you look chic and elegant and I hope you feel better soon!

  8. I've been feeling totally bland lately too. I havent been inspired by anything! I think its just cuz I'm sick of winter and feeling a bit sick. Hopefully this passes soon!

  9. How about
'The Wonderful Wardrobe of Andi B Goode' ?

    It definately deserves the accolade.

  10. I think your outfit is great! But I agree, I have been feeling the same way. I had a week of being totally inspired and full of ideas, and now nothing...

maybe it's the change of seasons coming up.

  11. Sorry to read you are in a funk. I hope it clears off soon :) You look lovely, all the same! I like the stripe cardi.

My inspiration at the moment is all black, dark and wintery – and vintage hair and hats and generally dressing 'up'.

ps I just saw the post of your Nonna etc can't believe I missed it! My (Italian) mother in law was fed tinned spaghetti at hospital after her first child, and she was not impressed ;p !!! It's so lovely to have pictures of your family like that!

  12. I've been a bit uninspired lately :(
But you still manage to look very lovely :) xx

  13. I love your outfit!!
also, I finally finished your painting. :) it's on my blog! hope you like it.

  14. I kinda understand what you mean - I'm in the death throes of my holidays, and always feeling like I should be making more of them!

For a little pick me up, I've been buying volumes from a series called "Yotsuba" - I don't know if you're into manga, but it's just so cheery and bright, it never fails to put me in a better mood.

Hope you get out of your funk soon!

  15. PS. Just gave you a little shout out on my Feb 27 post :)

  16. the pose, the hair, that belt...all perfect! you look great. it's like an everyday stylish look.
