Yesterday, I finally got around to wearing the playsuit I bought...quite some time ago, now. I love this because I can dress it up with wedges but I can make it a bit more casual with lace-up shoes and socks, too.
Outfit details: 1940s playsuit with skirt - ?; socks - Big W; shoes - Spend-Less (remixed).
I really like these shoes. They're comfortable and pretty cute, too.
Ideally I'd have liked to wear this outfit with saddle shoes (or maybe even Oxfords or some Penny Loafers?), but a gal does what she can!
I think in the back of my mind I was a bit inspired by the 1940s teenager and/or bobby-soxer look, which I really love. I tried to find a decent picture of Shirley Temple in The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer but didn't have any luck. I found a few cute pictures of girls wearing bobby socks, though! (I'm sure I've got loads more saved in my flickr favourites as wearing shoes and socks like this was really popular for quite some time).
That's looks really cute with the white shoes... I love the playsuit :)
ReplyDeleteThose photos have definitely inspired me to get my saddle shoes back in the mix...
xo
I think your outfit looks lovely! The white shoes go so well with the playsuit.
ReplyDeleteI've got a quick question - what does it mean when you say "remixed" next to an item of clothing? Have you altered them in some way?
Loving the bobby soxer picks. Very cute!
ReplyDeleteyour playsuit is just beautiful! Love the whole look. And what brilliant bobbysoxer pics.
ReplyDeleteYou look so great in that outfit! Why are people so frightened of having their socks on show these days? x
ReplyDeleteI love socks with shoes, they look so adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou outfit looks fantastic with the shoes xx
Same question as Miss Emmi; what do you mean by "remixed"?
ReplyDeleteI love those plain white shoes; I love my saddle shoes, more and more lately, but sometimes I wish they were a solid colour!
I love bobby socks and saddle shoes. It's so cute and so comfortable!

P.S. I'm giving away a dress on my blog if you'd like to enter! ;D
I adore the era you're conjuring up here. The vintage photos are amazing, and I'm just generally impressed by how thorough you are with your style.
ReplyDeletePlus, you're cute as a button :^)
Oooh, I always love this look on other people, but I've not had the guts to try it myself yet.
ReplyDeleteMust get myself some bobby socks!
I have adoredddd the bobbysoxer look forever. Have you ever seen the Cary Grant and (teen) Shirley Temple movie about the bobbysoxer? It is adorable. My parents have this 20th century book that I grew up looking through and they have a huge section of bobbysoxers with great photos and all. They are awesome!! you look adorable.
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute and I'd expect to find you in a concert queue shouting "Frankie" with your fellow bobby soxers.
ReplyDeleteThat outfit is worlds of fun (and in such a chipper hue, too!), I think you did a fab job of pairing it with lighter toned shoes and socks, that way the focus is kept squarely on this delightful play suit.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a blissful Friday & weekend ahead, sweet friend!

I love that dress! It's exactly the kind of thing I want to wear every day this summer. The fuschia color is great.
