Outfit: More 1940s Repro

On Saturday night I went to see Peaches 'n' Gin Burlesque's Cabaret Fringe Show at Nexus Cabaret. Anyone in Adelaide really needs to go see one of their shows! But I think you may have to wait until September. I haven't been anywhere that I can get all fancied up for, for a while now so I was happy to finally be able to wear the Vivien of Holloway dress I bought back in April. It's absolutely gorgeous, though the sizes do seem to run a little large.

Vivien of Holloway Dress
Outfit details: necklace - from mum; 1940s repro dress - Vivien of Holloway; belt - gift; mahjong tile bracelet - etsy; bracelet - blog giveaway prize; stockings - Love Kylie; shoes - Big W.

One thing I dislike about Winter is that, because it gets dark earlier, I have to take my outfit shots inside and we have terrible lighting in our house. Oh well!

Abi & Andi
I also saw my friend, Abi, there. We didn't get a photo on Thursday night when we both had red ribbons in our hair so we got one on Saturday, instead. No red ribbons, but a lot of red! Abi is a very talented seamstress - she made the corset and the pencil skirt she is wearing in this photo.

My internet is playing up so that is all for today, alas!

Love,
Andi B. Goode

  3. That dress is beautiful. And I don't think the lightning in your house seems awful at all, it looks warm and nice.

  4. It's lovely! That's funny what you say about sizing. i have a 1950s VoH dress and I had to go up two dress sizes from what i usually am to make the emasurements be right. Also, when they first sent it it was far too small, and luckily i went down to london to the shop to exchange it, becuase when I went a size up, it was far too big and in the end I ended up exchanging for a different dress, which was supposedly exactly the same size as the one i had originally got. So i'll never buy VoH online again!

  9. That dress is on my wish list, but I'm a bit worried about the hips being too small. I have trouble with dresses with straight skirts fitting both my waist and hips.
