For such a long time now, I've been drooling over all of the wonderful things in the etsy shop, nudeedudee. So, one day I decided 'Ah, to heck with it!' and, after some encouraging words from The Vintage Baroness (who has had some amazing pieces made by Kim) I contacted Kim about making me one of her Georgina 1940s pinafores. And I definitely do not regret it. Working with Kim was a very positive process - she's very easy to communicate with and does her utmost to ensure that what she makes is exactly what you want. I'm going to try to coerce my family into getting me something for Christmas, I think.
Outfit details: bow - ?; blouse - Cotton On; repro pinafore skirt - nudeedudee; socks - ?; saddle shoes - Payless.
And look at the gorgeous buttons! Kim gave me the choice of these or the regular white buttons.
Neither of these photos shows the colour of the skirt properly (at least, on my computer screen) but this is definitely closer. It's not quite mint green - maybe more pistachio? I wondered, for a little while, if it was the right colour for me but I think with the darker blouse it balances out nicely.
While we're on the subject of 1940s repro, I have also been wanting some (more) high waisted trousers for a while now. But, after the last few purchases, I decided to try to save some money so I thought I would wait for them. Then I remembered that the pattern Mum made my suit from also had a pattern for trousersl. I wasn't sure if they would sit where I wanted them to but they are absolutely perfect. The following photo does not do them proper justice and you can't see the lovely waistline, unfortunately.
Outfit details: scarf - opshop; vintage sweater - North Adelaide Vintage & Fashion Fair; 1940s repro trousers - my mum; saddle shoes - Payless.
Love,

P.S. I would also like to apologise for not commenting on other blogs as much as I used to. I think I'm following too many things online and may need to cut down (probably with Tumblr).
Great outfits - love the repro pinafore. The trousers suit you great and I am really quite taken with your sweater as well :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a great start to the weekend!
Wow, the repro pinafore is wonderful! I've been dying to order something from nudeedudee but, alas, I'm on a shopping ban for the time being. :P
ReplyDeleteLove the trousers too!
That pinafore looks amazing, I think I might try repro now, seeing how lovely yours is!! The colour is amazing!!!

I love the pinafore! Especially the the little buttons on it.
ReplyDeleteI will most definitely check that shop out :)
I've been dreaming about something like your pinafore for ages. The buttons are perfect! And I love the colour of the trousers (I've been really into blue the last years)...
ReplyDeleteOoh, FANTASTIC! LOVE the color and style of that on you! Those trousers are brilliant as well. Girl, you've got STYLE
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I need one now!
ReplyDeleteI also love how the seller has a tattooed sleeve but dresses in staunch 40's and 50's style including the hair and make-up. I just LOVE that contrast.
Oh! These are fantastic outfits! I especially love the jaunty pinafore; it's really darling and suits you to a T. ;)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about following too many things online! I've lately had to become a little more realistic about my time management, and start to categorize my blogs by those I check daily, and the ones I want to check every few days/once a week. It's tough though--there is so much neat stuff to see! ;)

ReplyDeleteHi Andi!! You look amazing, so glad you like it!!! You're just darling all put together.
ReplyDeleteBTW I've picked up a ton of other 40s pinafore patterns to make variations on this theme--if anyone's interested, you can see the pattern options at http://www.flickr.com/photos/nudeedudee/. I'm at your service!!!

that pinafore is so pretty on you. i love the button details. that vintage sweater pairs well with the wide-leg trousers in the last outfit. very cool.
ReplyDeleteI feel like such an idiot! My grandmother, may she rest in peace, always used to refer to pinafores, and I thought was just the word she used for a dress because she was foreign and old but now I realize what a pinafore is. It's darling.
ReplyDeletewow love you andy b.goode !
