Outfit: Attack of the 50 Ft. Andi

Saturday night I went to a friend’s 21st birthday party – the theme was ‘Monsters and Aliens’. I spent some time trying to think of a costume that fit the theme and was still at least somewhat vintage…most of the classic era alien or monster films I’ve seen are about male monsters and/or aliens or ones with rather elaborate costumes. After a few ideas (of which I shall share further down the post) I decided I would go with the 50 Ft. Woman (I have to admit that I haven't seen this film, yet, though...oops!):

As you can see she is wearing a bathing suit...I love bathing suits and don't mind the idea of wearing one but the middle of Winter isn't exactly the ideal time to do so. I decided to go with something 50s casual and got my mum to make a pair of black capris...

Attack of the 50 Ft. Andi
I still can't decide whether my costume was very clever or just lazy!

Some detail shots:

Oh, and here's a shot of my date for the night...

DSC05911
I know he's not very 50s but what's a girl to do? I also realised that the scale is very strange as the soldiers are tiny in comparison to him. Oops!

And, just for fun, a few of the other ideas I had, but rejected:

Magenta, from Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is my all time favourite film.

Alta from Forbidden Planet (not Robby)

or one of the Cat-Women of the Moon, but I wasn't sure if anyone would get it.

Unfortunately, I didn't stay very long as I was feeling unwell but these things happen!

Oh, and a few extra things:

-I've bought a domain name, so the blog is now at andibgoode.com, but all links with the previous URL should re-directed here.
-You can probably see that I have my first ever sponsored ad up on the site. I was contacted by Lady K Loves and I really like what she has in her store so I decided I would accept. I'm thinking about maybe taking other ads but I want to write up a little about it.
-Also, as you may notice, my blog lists have disappeared...I'm working on getting them back together but this is a good opportunity for anyone who links to me to let me know as I've been meaning to link back to quite a few of you! I would also like to rearrange my blog a bit, I think, but that's nothing for anyone else to worry about. Edited to add: I have started to fix the blog lists, but please don't be offended if I used to link to you and don't now as I can't remember what was on there before!

Love,
Andi B. Goode

Btw, sorry for the delay in answering comments and the lack of posts during July. It was vacation time here in the northern hemisphere, but now I've found my way back to blog-land =)

I link to you normally but I'm also organizing my link page at the moment, so it isn't on my blog right now.
And your date is very dashing. I never did have any boy barbies, all my girls had to marry each other or a stuffed animal. :(

Kir: Thank-you very much =D Oh, neat. I'll make sure to link back to you when I've got the time. Haha. That's OK, anyway. Hehe.
