This post is a little bit different in the sense that it's a what I would have worn post, as opposed to a 'what I wore' one. The reason is simple: I was meant to go out with a friend but felt poorly, so we decided to have dinner & watch movies at mine, instead. But before she came over I put on what I would have worn out because I felt at least well enough for that.
This house still hasn't left my house, since I got it, which I think is a real pity because it's a doozy! (from adelinesattic) When I first got it, I imagined dressing it up with my brown heels and a little green or brown Robin Hood-esque hat (have had my eye on this Wearing History pattern for a while, actually), as well as some gloves and a nice little sweater. I would still love to wear it that way but I think it looks equally as cute with these tan & cream shoes and the little handknit (by me) hat. I'm always excited when I realise my dresses look great with lace-up shoes and socks! And I really shouldn't be surprised when they do, anymore, but each time I am.
After I had finished this hat I was initially a little worried by the size of the pom-poms...but I got over that pretty quickly. I still dream about having a head-piece like this one...but I'm really not that keen on making pom-poms that large - takes far too long!
This is/was one of those dresses I absolutely adore but couldn't quite figure out if it was 'me' or not. Does that make sense? Does anyone else have items in their wardrobes like that? Something you love but aren't (or, at least, at one point weren't) sure if they suit you, I guess. It's a little bit difficult to describe what I mean. Anyway, after dressing up and reflecting on these photos, I've decided it is me and I can't wait to wear it out. Now, if only those shoes were as comfortable as they are cute...oh dear.
Love,
Andi B. Goode

Andi this outfit looks great on you!!

You look cute as a button! love the dress! Interesting neckline details!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what you mean... I have a few things I put on and look in the mirror and think I look like I am in costume - dressing up as someone else. The funny thing is that once I bite the bullet and just wear the dress/item - it goes fine and I inevitable end up loving it! So silly!
ReplyDeleteThat dress looks fantastic on you! Those shoes are great too, it's too bad they're not too comfy though!
ReplyDeleteI think that dress is very you!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about clothing! I feel that way about searsucker (sp?) I think it's so cute, but I don't think it fits my "style" I can't picture pulling it off myself
ReplyDeleteI think its adorable but I know what you mean I have a few things that I like but not sure if I like them on me type deal.
ReplyDeleteI flipping love your hat! and Carmen is such a head gear inspiration. I too always feel a bit silly wearing shoes and brogues but then I realise it looks quite good, although I do feel about 8 years old again wearing white socks hah x
ReplyDeleteThe dress is wonderful and I love the hat. Brogue/saddle shoes often aren't that comfy, because of the back rubbing. Have you got a low heeled pair of mary janes or t bars? That would go with the dress well, and the 2 year old pair I have are the most comfy shoes I own xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! =D
ReplyDeleteRebbecak, art deco dame & Betty2Tone: I'm glad it's not just me, then!
Hannah: Hehe. I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm constantly dressing myself like a schoolgirl!
Penny: It's not the heel, it's that they're a wee bit narrow and my feet are too wide. =]
I know what you mean about a dress that you're not quite sure whether or not it is you. But this one, my Australian soulmate, definitely suits you to a t! Lovely! I adore the hat and the shoes as well.
ReplyDeleteI think you look absolutely beautiful, Andi! :) I really love the hat especially. ;) But I know very well what you mean about being on the fence about a specific garment. I actually *gulp* have quite a few of those. The ones that everyone else compliments me on and such, but I'm still not sold on (even though in theory I love the piece... just not on me!). lol.

ReplyDeleteAah loving that hat, I need more pom-poms in my life! :)

Hah today I was wearing a massive pink circle skirt with a petticoat and frilly white socks and I thought 'the five year old me would be so proud' x
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable outfit! <3
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute dress! You look lovely in that colour!
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful with this outfit! I really love the hat!!!
ReplyDeleteB.
If you're still undecided about the dress, I'll be happy to trade you something for it and take it off your hands!!

But it looks amazinnggg on YOU, serio!!! And your shoes, too! I wear that style a lot (socks and saddles, maryjanes, loafers)with vintage skirt sets and find it very versatile...I just like socks better than stockings most of the time.
omg, I missed this post! I'm SO glad that dress went to you. It fits you like a glove!
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling of wondering if a dress is quite 'me', but that dress most definitely suits you, I love it! I love the little bit of green ribbon which contrasts perfectly with the brown, and that hat is adorable!

You look great - the pompoms and that dress - awesome!
ReplyDeleteShopping with my Mom she is always getting me to try on things which I then explain "aren't me" and I can never get across what I mean because they do fit and I do like them. So I think I know what you mean :)
