Peppermint Twist

Now that I've got no essays to write, I not only have more time for blogging but I can catch up with my social life, too! This is what I wore out on Tuesday for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the mint accents worked with the bolder colours of the dress.

Outfit details: sunglasses - asos; cardigan - Harris Scarfe;  dress - etsy; socks - asos; vintage saddle shoes - etsy.

I bought these a little while back but haven't posted about them, yet - they're the second pair of saddle shoes that I own and it's quite nice to not always have to wear the black and white ones. Now I can wear saddle shoes with more outfits. Huzzah!

I'm also completely in love with my new sunglasses from asos. They're so round and the perfect colour! And, of course, I love how they can almost pass for '30s/'40s glasses like these. There are about 4 or 5 pairs on there at the moment I've got my peepers on, as well.

In other words...

Just another brief post to say a couple of things...first of all, has everyone seen my new layout? Isn't it amazing? It was done for me by the incredibly talented Kate Gabrielle who has her own blog (you can find a lot more links of where she's at on the internet there) and makes wonderful art, too. If you like her work, you can get her to do your layout via her etsy store.

Secondly, I've finally finished all of my assignments (for this semester, at least) so that means I should have more time to blog. Hurrah! If I can think of what to blog about, that is - I haven't been taking many outfit photos lately so hopefully I get back into that, at least.

And for those of you who actually enjoy these, a couple of new-ish ukulele videos!

Look down, look down that lonesome road

Went out to see a really great jazz band from New Orleans by the name of Tuba Skinny, the other night. I wore this and as I'm writing I've realised you've seen this dress more than once already. Oh well.

Not the best video because you can't hear Erika sing that well (and there are a lot of somewhat extraneous shots of the rest of the market) but I thought it'd be nice to include a video of them in Adelaide.

Seriously give them a listen - I'm sure you won't be disappointed, especially if you like old style jazz and blues. I went home early (always the first to go home, alas) so I missed them jamming outside the Festival Centre afterward but I got to see them and they were amazing, anyway. Hope you are all well, dear readers - I'm hoping to get back to blogging regularly once this final essay is out of the way.

Two-Bit Villains Opening

I told you all the other week about a new store opening in Adelaide. Well, I was invited to the opening night and took a few photos to show off what a great shop Liam and Steph have created. They stock local (as in Adelaide), Australian and international brands all with a cool Rockabilly aesthetic. And the business cards are playing cards! (I just thought that was pretty neat).

(Just before they cut the ribbon - too many cameras about so I didn't get a shot of them actually cutting it! Ah well.)

Some of the brands they stock include Hot Couture; Miss Hussy (where I got my fantastic leopard pants from) and Peta Pledger (I have the Angelique dress) to name but a few. 

As you can see from the photos they stock accessories, LPs, home decorate-y type things and some magazines (you can find Deadbeat there) as well as all of the groovy threads, as it were.

If you're free at any of the times above go check it out (shop 123, Level 1, Adelaide Arcade) and I doubt you'll be disappointed. And spread the word to anyone you think would be interested, too! I don't often blog about Adelaide related things (though I'm feeling I should do that more often) but I think it's important to support local businesses, especially those who are trying to bring something a little different here.

Edit: I just realised that I didn't mention one of the aims is to keep everything as affordable as possible and I, for one, think everything is reasonably priced.

Plaid Dress, Green Cardigan

Taking another break from study (I do like those) for an outfit post; this is what I wore to town, last Friday, to meet up with Miss Kitty Boo. We had coffee (well, I had a chai latte) and chatted for a while, which was lovely.

I started doing my hair by following Lisa's tutorial for the pageboy 'do but realised I didn't have enough time to brush it out enough so ended up with this!

Two-Bit Villains

Taking a bit of a break from studying to tell you about a new store opening up in Adelaide. I first heard about it via Peta Pledger...who is from Melbourne! Ha! I didn't exactly wonder why I hadn't heard about it before that - I'm so very out of the loop with what's going on here that it's just not funny. Anyway, I thought it sounded pretty neat, to say the least.

Then one of my good friends emailed me to tell me about it - it turns out it's being opened by her brother and his girlfriend!
