Sunny day, sunny clothes

Once again, just another small outfit post. I've been trying to get things organised (mainly my brain) and get used to managing my time better and juggling different things again but it's a slow process. I think I'm getting there, though. It does mean that I've been neglecting the blog (as I keep mentioning) and the blog-world in general. Anyway, enough of starting every post with an excuse! Here is me in some clothes...

These pants were originally from Millers of all places! It does mean that they're super comfy, though. Ha. And I think they look great with the yellow of this top (which is one of those items that keeps going from my 'keeping' to 'getting rid of' piles and back and forth). I found them a couple of weeks ago when I hit up some church op-shops for some decent op-shopping prices for a change.

OK, now I'm going to go read some blogs - something I've been sorely neglecting lately!

Blue and pink and blue and pink

Another outfit post! Gasp! I went out for dessert (for the first time ever to Eggless - I'd never had the chance before and everyone I know loves it there) for a friend's birthday and, as I've been pretty obsessed with My Little Pony lately I took inspiration from one for the colours of my outfit...(the dessert was great, by the way - had coconut and banana mousse with chocolate gelato. Yum.)

I thought I'd cleared this part of my room to at least give the illusion of being tidy but I seem to have failed to clear everything out of the frame. Oops. I guess you get to have a little snoop at my books and things if you are interested.

The colours of my outfit were inspired by my favourite (so far) My Little Pony, Bowtie. I really love blue and pink together so I guess that's why she's my favourite? Plus, she has freckles.

To the right of my head is one of my favourite photos of Cecil Beaton's sister, Nancy: Miss Nancy Beaton as a Shooting Star, 1928. I think I bought this postcard from the NGV when they had their art deco exhibition on a few (or more) years ago.

My poor flamingo brooch lost his eye.

Honey keep a-buzzin' please!

Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on my new layout! I'm pleased that so many of you like it.

Anyway, I haven't been taking many outfit photos, lately, because it's started to feel like a chore. I remember when I would take ten or twenty photos of the same outfit - now I'm lucky if I take three! But I wanted to document this outfit (well, costume) from last night and figured I'd share it seeing as I've got decent photos for once.

My friend had a rainforest/Fern Gully/fairy party for her birthday and I figured 'bees probably live in the forest somewhere' so I went as a bee. (I think honey bees aren't native to rain forests My friend didn't mind.)

I wanted a Queenly crown but found this tiara and decided I felt more like a Princess Bee, than a Queen Bee, so that's my costume: Princess Bee.

I think I need to find somewhere else to take my outfit photos, though, as I'm sick of looking at my backyard fence in all of them. Ha. Maybe my room? But the light is really awful inside.

The subject of this post is from this absurdly cute song by Doris Day:

Apologies for the short (and awkwardly written) post and I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends.

A blog makeover

Firstly, to anyone who hasn't noticed yet I finally got my new layout finished! It's not as fancy as the amazing layout Kate Gabrielle had made for me but I felt like it was time for a change. Plus, now I can reply to comments!

Secondly, I'm still really struggling with things to blog about. I haven't been taking outfit photos and, as I can only really afford to indulge one collection/obsession at a time, any spare money I have is focussed on my latest. So, I haven't been buying much in the way of vintage wares to share here, either.

For now, I thought I'd share a few more shots of my growing Tammy family

Calico Lassie dresses
These dresses were made for Calico Lassie - she was a mail-order doll through Kellog's cereal and bears a striking resemblance to Ellie-Mae Clampett. They each originally came with matching bloomers, too, but I'm missing the bloomers for one of these dresses.

Tammy Clones
But as I don't have a Calico Lassie the dresses are being worn by these three Tammy 'clones' (i.e. knock-off dolls) that I found at a local shop. I've had a few comments about how frightening the orange-haired twins are but I think their nearly-neon locks are fantastic.

Tammy's little sister, Pepper...times two. I love her little dresses - I'd like them in my size!

Tammy & friends
And here is my whole Tammy family (by Ideal) - it's not as big as the collections of some of the doll collectors I've made friends with online but I'm quite proud of my little family! They are wearing a mix of official Tammy, Sindy and vintage no-name clothes. The outfit on the left (called Ring-a-Ding) reminds me a little of one of Ann Margret's outfits in Bye Bye Birdie.

Anyway, I hope you can all bear with me as I plod along at a sporadic blogging pace until I get the blogging muse back.

Favourite 2012 outfits

Hello, lovely readers! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season. I wasn't going to post my first blog of 2013 until I'd got my new layout finished and installed but I'm still not entirely happy with it and I'm I guess I'll just go ahead and post this, anyway.

I don't feel like spending a lot of time reflecting on 2012 but I'm fine with looking back at what I wore, so here are some of my favourite outfits from last year...I tried to narrow it down to 12 but ended up with 15. I never was very good at self-editing...

Something a little different...

I don't think this outfit was well-liked by anyone but myself. But I love it.

Wow! That skips quite a few months. I did take a break in there and the middle of the year wasn't the best for me, I guess.

I was going to post some of my favourites from Instagram that didn't make it to the blog but I'm not sure about it, yet. I'm also still a bit stuck with inspiration for the blog so hopefully it won't be too long until my next post!
