In my room

I'm not sure if anyone really wants to see photos of my room, but it was tidier than it's been in weeks so I wanted to document it whilst I wasn't entirely ashamed of it. Ha. The photos are all a bit too yellow, which I realised after they were uploaded to Flickr. But there are some older ones in this set with a more natural light to them.

My room...
I have always loved this quote from William Morris: “If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.” Maybe he wasn't thinking about Minnie Mouse bedspreads and stuffed toys when he said that, but everything here is, to me, either beautiful or useful. And makes me happy, which is important in such a personal space.

Some people like minimalism and sleek design. I like an organised clutter. And tend toward the kitschy and cute.

My room...
Never mind the bra. Or the bin. Ha. (Art prints, by wardrobe, from Ghosts Waltz and Gingerhaze).

My room...
I think this is my favourite view of my room. And in some ways is almost a summary of a big portion of what I love in life, I think. (Art prints from Devon Smith, Wishcandy, Audrey Malo, prettylittlethieves and The Black Apple.)

My room...
My poor mandolin (who I named Joxer on a whim) doesn't have anywhere to live, yet.

My room...
Sometimes I like to just sit and stare at my bookshelves (is that odd?)...

My room...
or my DVD shelves! (This is just my TV on DVD collection. You can see my movies here if you wish.) And a peek at my Pullip dolls.

My room...
The Bat-corner! It's a little lacking...

My room...
I use my vintage Nallyware container to store my stockings in. My jewellery is on a two-tiered cake platter (got the idea from Fleur de Guerre a few years ago). And I got the idea to use the paper towel holder for my bangles from a friend. And you can see that dust is one of my favourite decorations...I'm going with that for now.

Well, hopefully some of you enjoyed this little tour around my room!

Love,
Andi B. Goode

I just made a post about my room, too! Glad to see I'm not the only one who's not into minimalism!

  3. Oh my goodness, sweet Andi, the cuteness factor in your room is off the charts! Love your Pullips! I used to collect them, but sold off most of (albeit very modest sized) collect the winter before last to help raise funds for our (then) upcoming cross country move. I still have two though, and cherish them dearly.

  5. You make me REALLY miss the two pullips I had, the Tajyang(sp), and the Dal I had. I had Anne Shirley, Paja, MJ, and Drta. I sold them all though.

  7. Your room is so adorable! I absolutely love how it looks and slightly reminds me of my room. The book shelves are very pretty, I wish I had enough room for something like that. I also adore your 1959 Barbie doll you have.

  8. I love that William Morris quote! It's so true.

It's perfectly normal to sit and stare at your bookshelves. I do it all the time. Remember when I posted photos on LJ of my overcrowded bookcase? Well I got a second one and it's totally amazing how nothing is stacked in front of anything else anymore. I even have an empty shelf so my collection has room to expand. Exciting!

  10. Have you seen these new batman barbies? Looks like they'd be right up your alley! http://www.barbiecollector.com/news/holy-collector-catnip-batman

My room is so messy; I can't take outfit photos unless I'm meeting up with somebody outside! Papers and notebooks everywhere. I'm very over thesis work!

    1. Yesssssssssssssssssss! I want them SO MUCH! But I don't know if any shops here will get them. The one shop that stocks collector Barbies said she won't get them because they usually go to Big W, etc. But last time she said that it ended up meaning I never got the dolls. :'( Thanks for thinking of me, though. :D

Hahaha, that's what my room is usually like. And I don't even have thesis work as an excuse!!
